Balakot Air Strike: IAF jets wreaked havoc on terrorists; This is how today's day was recorded on the pages of history

On 26th February in history, we commemorate the death anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a valiant freedom fighter who championed the cause of armed revolution against the British. Born in Bhagur, Nashik, Savarkar firmly believed that there was no other way to attain freedom except through the use of force. His fearless attitude and unyielding spirit made him a hero to many, and his willingness to accept life imprisonment with a smile was an inspiration to all those fighting for independence. Today, there stands a memorial to Savarkar in Bhagur, serving as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the cause of Indian freedom.

"The phrase 'Ne Majsi Ne Patra Mathrubhumi Sagar Pran Talmalla' holds a special place in the history of the freedom fighter, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who passionately answered the call of his motherland. As a staunch Hindu, he was bestowed with the title of 'Swatantryaveer' by the renowned Marathi writer and journalist Prahlad Keshav Atre. While studying law in London, Savarkar translated the autobiography of Italian intellectual Joseph Mazzini into Marathi, and his preface to the translation became the cornerstone of the armed revolution philosophy for many Indians. Numerous revolutionaries of that era found inspiration in this preface and made it their guiding principle."

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a freedom fighter who dedicated his life to the cause of India's independence from British rule. Despite his significant contributions to the movement, he was stripped of his barrister degree due to his involvement in the struggle. Savarkar was also a pioneer in the field of language purification and enriched the Marathi language with 45 new words such as "date" and "mayor". In his later years, Savarkar went on a hunger strike and gave up food, medicine, and water from February 1, 1966, at the age of 83. Sadly, his health deteriorated rapidly and he passed away on February 26, 1966, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and commitment to the cause of freedom.
